Youngsters Get A Head Start At Jump Into Work Event

Students have marked the end of a city-wide work-skills programme with a visit to the Mayor’s Parlour.

The youngsters visited the Civic Centre yesterday to meet the Mayor, Councillor Claire Darke, for the celebration.

They joined pupils from across the city who have been taking part in HeadStart programmes about getting ready for the world of work, focusing in particular on skill-sets, building confidence and self-esteem.

Miss Jones, who leads HeadStart in school, said: “Our students have had a really interesting and useful time working with HeadStart this year. It was great to be able to celebrate this work with other students from schools across the city and sharing experiences of the programmes.”
