Students Take Their Council Seats

Moseley Park students are making sure young people have their voices heard in the city after taking seats on Wolverhampton Youth Council.

Jamie Poole and Alex Hazeldine-Hill, who are both in Year 8, will represent Moseley Park and the wider community.

The youth council, which formed in 2001, allows young people to represent their views to decision makers in the city. Members meet with senior officers at Wolverhampton City Council on a regular basis. They also meet as a group once a month to discuss issues affecting young Wulfrunians.

Mr Mincher, who runs the leadership programme at Moseley Park, said: “We are keen to develop leadership within school and we currently have students doing everything from helping to plan and run lessons to supporting others students and organising charity events. Jamie and Alex have taken this to the next level, representing the views of Moseley Park pupils on a city-wide stage. We are very proud of them – I’m sure they’ll do a brilliant job.”
