Devontae Is A CPR Superstar As Video Goes Viral

A community-spirited Year 7 student is celebrating after the first aid video he made with his brother went viral.

Devontae Higgins teamed up with his younger brother Daejaun to make the video, which explains the correct way to perform CPR if someone has stopped breathing.

The short film, which is narrated by Devontae, stars Daejaun demonstrating how to carry out proper resuscitation with the help of their mum, paramedic Stephanie Longmore.

They decided to film the demonstration after Daejaun was challenged to make a life skills video by his school, Edward the Elder primary in Wednesfield.

It was picked up and shared by West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Police and has now been viewed hundreds of times. The family has even been approached by the community initiative Birmingham Says No To Knife Crime/Youth Violence for the video to be added to their website.

And their fame continues to spread – yesterday Devontae and his family appeared on BBC Radio Wolverhampton to discuss the video and its reception with breakfast show presenter Elise Evans. Click here to listen to the show.
