Moseley Park’s young footballers are celebrating after defeating opposition from across the region to be crowned local champions.
The boys competed in the hotly-contested School Football Tournament, which was held at the West Bromwich Albion dome – the training facility the Premier League club uses for its academy players
The team consisted of Year 7 students Lawson Pardoe, Ashley Nicholls and Takunda Madanhi as well as Wayne Hyde, Kyle Cox and Rio Goodall-Clarke from Year 8 and Lewis Smart from Year 9.
They played ten games – winning seven, drawing two and losing one – to lift the crown. Goals came from Goodall Clarke, who netted 11, Smart and Cox, who both scored four and Nicholls, who hit the back of the net once.
Mr Chilton, who took the boys to the tournament, said: “The lads were absolutely tremendous and were a real credit to Moseley Park. Their commitment and attitude was second to none. A special mention goes to Takunda, who came away with an individual trophy for best save and keeper of the day. The lads thoroughly enjoyed the competition and look forward to retaining their title on their next visit.”
