Year 8 students and their families will begin the process of choosing their GCSE subjects this week with a special options evening.
The event, which is being combined with Year 8 parents’ evening, will allow pupils and their folks to see the wide range of subjects available to them at Key Stage 4. It takes place on Thursday, March 2 from 4.30pm to 7pm.
Headteacher, Mrs Holloway, will be explaining the options process during two presentations in the main hall. The first takes place at 5pm for tutor groups H1, H2, K1 and K2, whilst the second is at 6pm for tutor groups P1, P2, S1 and S2.
Youngsters will also be given their options booklets during the event to guide them through their big decision.
Key Stage 4 subject displays and staff will be on hand in the E-block to offer advice and guidance on GCSE and BTEC options available to students from Year 9 onwards. There will be a chance to talk to staff in the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and ICT as well as the optional subjects of Art, Business, Drama, Film Studies, French, Geography, History, Health & Social Care, Music, PE, Resistant Materials and Food.
Meanwhile, meetings to discuss pupils’ current progress with teachers will take place in the Y-block.
