Talented youngsters are celebrating after being crowned the winners of a competition to inspire students to go to university after they leave school.
The My Perfect University 2017 competition took place at the University of Wolverhampton’s city centre campus and saw Moseley Park battle it out with Year 9 and 10 students from 40 different West Midlands’ schools.
Brendon Wasarirevu, Myles Lester, Chiko Madanhi, James Elwell, Benjamin Howell and Mufaro Chuma brought their own urban musical take to proceedings – to the delight of the audience and judges.
The competition is part of the Aspire to HE programme, which aims to encourage youngsters to consider university or high apprenticeships when they leave school.
Mr Muchenje, who took the boys to the contest, said: “Our team won the initial competition in school with an energetic, charismatic and dynamic performance that impressed the event co-coordinators. They then carried the same enthusiasm all the way to the finals, where after their performance, the judges applauded them for their presentation. They remarked that the Moseley Park students were very entertaining and yet inspirational.”
