Moseley Park students and their families are being invited to join free drama workshops, sports activities and other creative holiday fun this summer.
The sessions – which must be booked in advance – will take place across Bilston and the wider Wolverhampton area during the school holidays to help to keep youngsters entertained.
They will include events run by the Gazebo Theatre at Bilston Town Hall, who will be putting on creative art and media workshops each week and a family film fun day on August 25. They will also be taking on the challenge of attempting to “create a play in a week” in the last week of the holiday.
Sporty youngsters can join Centre Spot who will be putting on sporting activities at Coronation Park – where students will even have the chance to try out for Bilston FC’s junior team.
The sessions – which are open to youngsters aged between 10 and 16 in Bilston East – are being organised by HeadStart, a lottery-funded programme to boost students’ confidence and resilience so that they can tackle life’s challenges. It works with schools and other community organisations to ensure young people have the skills they need.
Miss Jones, who helps co-ordinate the HeadStart programme in school, said: “It can be quite hard to find things to do over the summer break. Hopefully our students will take advantage of some of these fun activities to make it a holiday to remember.”
Places are strictly limited and early booking is advised. Visit www.headstartonline.co.uk for more information on how to reserve places.
