Students put their own mark on their studies as they created totem poles to represent their personalities.
Year 7 are currently studying different cultures and civilisations from around the world – ranging from the Aztecs in South America to the Inuits in the Arctic Circle.
As an extra challenge, students from the Excellence Academy were given the additional task of creating a totem pole to best represent them. Sloths, frogs and dragons were amongst the animals to make an appearance in their colourful designs.
Miss Eades, who set the task, said: “There have been some fantastic examples of pupils using what they have learned about Native American traditions to produce their own totem poles. It was lovely to see them making their choices and creating their designs. They put a lot of thought and effort into what they made and their final creations were fantastic.”
